Remove any mention of "knives" use "cutlery" instead.
Knives are almost as scary as guns you know.

I've had FB reject EVERY ad that shows a picture of a knife and sheath. I've only been successful in placing ads or boosting posts for kitchen cutlery...

I’ve had no luck doing paid advertising on Facebook or Instagram, they will send automated offers but will reject anything knife related. Even trying to promote culinary knives which don’t go against their rules gets rejected every time. I don’t have a marketing team and enough money to get ads approved like bigger knife companies. The time to try and get to a human to review the ad isn’t worth it and often even if one person agrees with you and approves the ad it may get sent back to review the next day and get rejected. It’s better to build an organic following and join groups and communities and try to be a part of those communities to make a name for yourself.

Several times we have tried to do advertising for her bags and have had it declined because we link to our website where lo and behold my weapons of mass destruction with their 2.5" to 3" blades are for sale. There is a work around. But its been years since we've tried as we don't have a need for it. Build that IG/FB page. That becomes your advertising and its free.

I've never understood the value in going out of your way to conduct business with or through a company that so actively campaigns against your interests and fundamentally despises you. They flat out tell you that they don't value you as a customer or user. What other business would you tolerate that from? I don't get it, but then again I've never had a social media account either, so maybe I'm missing something that justifies the abusive relationships?

Its not an abusive relationship, its their rules, period.
Social networks work without ads, you have to build your audience, and it works pretty well, but it doesn't happen in a day, it takes years.

Fair enough, maybe I added that bit of hyperbole at the end to sink the point in. But I'll stand by my statements. I understand fully how it all works, which is exactly why I've never participated in it on a personal or professional level. I know I'm in the minority, and I'm happy for anyone who increases their success by using it. Just not for me.

I've been using FB to showcase my knives for about two years now. I have a page dedicated to my business name. I post new builds there, then share/repost in every group that might have an interest in knives. I usually don't mention a price so as not to violate any no selling rules. Just a detailed description of my work along with a contact button. My following has grown slowly but steadily, and only recently have I started taking orders from the exposure. Keep at it and be patient. Persistence, and maybe a little bit of spamming, and you will see results in no time.
