This is an item my wife suprised me with on Christmas. Its either from the 18th or 19th century. I'm trying to do some research on its history. Perhaps someone here has done some of this and may know of a site to find further info. Here are some pics..

This particular picture you can see what i'm guessing are serial numbers of some sort. On the finger guard you can see a calligraphic K with a crown stamp above it. The initials "IE" that appear on the top of the scabbard also repeat at the bottom of the scabbard, and are also on the blade itself.

This picture you can see there is what appears to be a calligraphic J with a crown stamp on the blade.

This one you can see the K on the finger guard a little better. If you look to the right of the tong/fork that runs up the middel part of the blade(This lock the sword into the scabbard), there is the initials IE once again. Unfortunately they didn't turn out to well on this scan. best I could manage.

It's a 19 century european cavalry sword (Spain) i believe, if i can dig up its date and where it was made i will get back to you.
