A first for me. 6" blade of 01 tool steel with a through tang peened over 1/8" steel butt plate. Octagon grip is file decorated Boxwood. Center seam in the back sheath is formed vege-tan stained black with a vinegar/iron solution. Hope you enjoy a look.

Definitely not what you'd see normally. I like it. What kind of jobs was a knife like that used for? I like the handle color a lot. I don't know if that's a historically accurate choice or not, but it looks right and like the shape it makes for a very distinct knife unlike anything else around.

The handle is of the correct wood for early trade knives. It is Boxwood with it's natural color. The design of the knife is more or less a composite from 17th c. and 18th c. originals.

Thanks guys. It was more work than I imagined it would be, but worth the effort in the end.

You have a steady hand with those files. Your marks on the handle are nicely aligned.

You could've stopped right there! They ALWAYS end up being more work than we imagined.

Nice job, though. Knife looks great.

Wick, that one is different from your norm but I can see the class and workmanship that goes into all of your knives. I really like the looks of the Boxwood. I think I may have to try some of that on a knife!
