18th Century and other weapon khukuris

Forumites, I have a question. I was looking over some old threads to see what khukuris I do want/need and I saw pictures of both the FCK and the 18th century model. They both looked very similar. Is the 18th century model a forward curving style? I also read that the 18th century is the best weapon khukuri out there? Is it better than the sirupati? I may just have to get myself one. What about the FCK? It seems as if that model would make one formidable knife as well. I think that I am partial to the weapons oriented khukuris? Maybe it is because I am a lightweight. With that in mind, can I ask a couple more questions? How do you think the GS would make a fearsome weapon? I don't have one yet, but the the lines and curves of it have "don't mess with me" all over it. What about Chainpuris? I know that they are lighter than most khukuris, but they also look as if they could handle themselves well in a fight. Thanks for all the valued input.

Uncle Bill, BTW how much is the 18th century?

Hi Chris:

The two models are very similar. The 18th century is more angles than curved, however.

Personally, I think the Gelbu Special works better than either of them but there are probably some who will argue with me about my opinion.

Uncle Bill,

Are all the FCKs engraved with the stars motif? Also how much is the 18th Century?

Chris,

I just got a Gelbu special, and I can tell you my inexperienced opinion of it. It has a great feel to it and looks/chops/handles like a dream. I feel confident handling it as a weapon, but I'm used to swinging my 20" AK around which is over 3 lbs. MY GS weighs in at 1lb 13oz, which is heavy to some. I am 6'0 tall and 220lbs and on the strong side (not to sound pompous), so you should take that into consideration. I don't own any of the other Khuks yet so I can't tell you about those. Hope that helps a little

I'm 5'4", but the 12" Sirupati feels hard wired into my brain. It feels like it is sending signals telling my brain what it just did. 15" Sirupati, almost as good. 17" 14oz Chainpuri ( style like Gelbu Spl ).

You want fighting knife? Randall No. 1 and 2 have 6,7,8" blades - my 12" (ok- 12 1/2") Sirupati blade is 8 1/2". And forumites refer to it as the BABY Sirupati?

Get the 12" whether sirupati or villager - then all you need to do is decide what to pick for a bigger khuk. You'll have the baby with you somehow within arm's reach. It's like choosing which pistol to carry on your hip. The little 38 snub is on your ankle before you decide on which for the belt.

You might consider the WW11 along with the 18th century. The big ones are too heavy for me to use anymore. It is hard to beat the WW11 for most uses.
But don't be afraid of trying any model of HI. Uncle Bill stands behind them all.

What? Another knife? Don't you have enough of those things already?
How many does one person need?
And just what are you going to do with this one that you can't do with the others?
What is the purpose of all these knives anyhow??

My gosh, Jim; have you overheard my wife's interrogations toward me about my knives? That's what she says, word for word!

Spooky.

The first thing that I would do is to check carry laws in your area. Most places will have some kind of regulation. The second thing that I would do is to practice with the new toy alot. There is nothing more deadly than losing a Khukri in a fight. The best way to win a street fight is to not be there.
