Won this UBB on the 11th. It was waiting for me at home the 14th. Great service. Do they send it in smoke? The handle is a big fat bulb of well polished and carved wood. I think its way too thick for heavy usage, but fits my somewhat larger than average hands pretty well and would seem to work fine for short term chores. Do I wish the handle was smaller? Yes, but it is far too nice looking to sand down or make smaller. That doesn't mean its too pretty to use.

It was supposed to be a blem for 3 minute rust removal. It took me three minutes to even find a spot of rust. I will have to go beyond the pencil eraser (all I've got here by the computer) but shouldn't be a problem. The blade is pretty sharp. Pretty shiny, but with a number of marks that need to be buffed out.

Overall, a beautiful khuk. The tools are neat, probably not too useful, but neat. The karda has a nice curve to it that I haven't seen on others. the Karda has a really rough edge, but a few minutes on a sharpmaker will smooth it out.

Thanks Uncle Bill and Yangdu.

Neat little synopsis:) Thanks, Shann. I have always been drawn to the Hanuman, but i danty little paws. I can handle think handles, but i've heard that the Hanuman is just overly thick. Maybe i'll pick one up on a DOTD sometime, or maybe a Garud, or maybe a Rose, or...<sigh> the sickness:D

Just lost my whole post. One of those friggin buttons on the left wipes everything out...i hate computers and keyboards and Gates.

but, er...
I have a Ganga Ram with a handle a little too small for me. A small handle under stress wants to roll to the side in the hand. A big handle, like the Hanuman, wants to 'split' the grip under force. My philosophy has always been to use things the way in which they work best. I was troubled by the small handle on my GR until Nasty told me something like this: "I like a smaller handle on the bigger heavier khuks. They remind me to let the khuk do the work, and if it starts to turn, I must be swinging too hard." (paraphrase)
So I suspect your Hanuman, like my own, can be used to delimb and chop hard, and unless your hand is real small, which you said it is not (which could be dangerous) the Hanuman will do just fine.
