hey all, just got my black ram and installed fireberts ebony scales. thing is completely transformed. pics to follow soon. oh and a composite shallot came with the order ;) nice

I'd really like to see the scales attached.
I've already PM'd firebert asking about scales, guess I need stop
wasting his time and order some.

i need to find the cable to my camera and i shall hopefully have the pics up tonight. this will be the first of two RAMs with his scales. i plan on using the ebony scales for EDC at work and the snakewood as more of a display piece because i couldn't bear to have them scratched. it was easy to attach them as the fit and finish are superb. the lock slider was rubbing the scale for a bit until i adjusted and it settled out.

the extra thickness that the scales add just make the knife feel better in the hand. it still opens and closes using only the slider if needs be and its simply gorgeous. the scales are dark dark chocolate colored, black with a hint of something else in the light. i seriously like the natural feel of the wood over g10 and im a huge fan of g10. at this point i need to figure out which of my knives can use his scales and i need to put him on retainer :D. hear that phillip ;)

I took a few shots with my new ZDP shallot. both knives are going to get some serious pocket time. Enjoy!

as you can see, the ebony scales are a great deal thicker than the G10. IMHO it makes a big difference in comfort (for the better)

thanks sv!

its been a long time. those scales have been sitting on a shelf for a while waiting for this knife to arrive. now the question becomes CKT for the snakewood or CKTST.....

oh this one is my edc for sure. Unless a ti/compositezdp ram is in the works (hint hint). Then I think PE. If its not edc then serrations don't really serve any purpose.

But seriously. I need a grey titanium handled ram with a composite zdp blade. That with ebony scales is my holy Grail

Very nice Slade.
I do ask though, why would you guys not EDC the snakewood?
Is it really soft or something?

mike

WOW! some great pics of a couple of nice knives! :) do you have to do anything special with the wooden grips? such as care?

firebert(phillip) sent the scales with a piece of 4000 grit sandpaper. its nice for upkeep on the ebony. the snakewood was finished to 8000. im not gonna touch that one :)
