Doing some pre-Christmas exploring. Thinking of a knife with standard 1911 grip panels on the handle.

Will consider fixed blade or folder. Could be a kit or blank blade.

Hoping for Under $100.00

Asking for suggestions and sources.

There's a forumer with a whole load of 1911 grip knives. Not sure if its proper to mention him. Will message him first.

Not for a hundred bucks......😂😂😂😂

Super Cool idea though..... For the Heck of it. I think they look Neat

Something for the OP....not quite the same, but similar, better ergo's .... Check out TDI knives.

They have slimmer, easily concealed grips. Lots of cops carry them for a backup fixed blade. Very comfortable

I remember Wilson Combat did that a while back. A Google search shows one sold on AZCK for $150 at one point. No idea who the OEM was or if they’re common to find these days.

Cold Steel makes a cheap one, but they're not actual 1911 grips, just shaped like them.

In other knife related 1911 news, We Knife actually made 1911 grips out of titanium with a CNC pattern from one of their knives. Unfortunately it doesn't work with ambi safeties, though...

IMO . not one of Cold Steel's better folders and not something I'd buy . But maybe if you're a 1911 fan like Lynn C. Thompson ...?

He also made 1911 inspired sword cane and regular 1911 cane without sword .

I'm a 1911 fan and I wouldn't buy that knife, either, but it fits the thread requirements :p

Guy named Gene Baskett is considered the father of the style, started making them in the early 80's -

https://www.google.com/search?q=1911+knife+gene+baskett .

Kahr / Magnum Research has a line of chute sized 1911 fixed blades that are just a hair over a $100.

Knife Kits has some kits they're blowing out - https://www.knifekits.com/ , not sure on linking, so just search 1911, and it will come up.

These guys have been doing the style for years too - https://ultimate-equipment.myshopify.com/ .

I have one of the Ultimate Equipment standard models. I bought it years ago when they were first introduced.
They were made in a small shop in Canada, I don't know if that's still true. The cost now is not much higher than it was 10 years ago when I bought mine.

It's a solid knife and completely ambidextrous (clip can be reversed), they also supply a tool to service the knife.

Any set of 1911 grips will fit the standard model.
They now offer a steel upgrade, in the past only 440C was available.

As much as I love "Ole Slabsides": that grip size and shape would be too bulky...
Sorry...

That one is pretty cool and interesting. How is the lockup on it? Any blade play or are they built pretty nice?

The lockup is tight... it's a back lock, the button that looks like mag release slides up to release the lock.
It also has a stop pin inside the frame to prevent the blade from striking the backspring.
Overall, the fit and finish is very good. If my memory is correct, it's all screw construction too.

Thanks, something like this was never on my radar but it is now after seeing yours and checking out their website seeing the different models and I like that S35VN is an option 🍻
