I recently acquired a very old buck knife at a garage sale. It looks like an ironwood handle, with the name BUCK stamped on the blade, it is a fixed blade. From my research I think it may be one of the early knives from the 1940's. I'm not sure how to post a photo here, but any information anyone might have would be greatly appreciated. It is a unique blade, but I don't know how to verify what it is or what it might be worth- Thank you.

Here you go xgreywolfx... Now some one can tell us more about it... ITE

i belive it is their pareing- kitchen knife they made for a while
sit sure dont look like a hunting knife at all
but i only know a little abouit the 110 not stright blades

Looks more like a late 50's knife. The tang stamp is a single strike. May be a piece of Rosewood, Buck used scraps from the Sullivan Hardwood Company(pg 21 from The Story of Buck Knives)

Yes, Scott I agree. In the 50's lignum vitae was used on handles---but somewhere from this era. Buck knives from the 40's used a different handle material. However, that handle style and blade shape I've not seen. DM

I've not seen this design either. It is definitely not from the 40s. Here are some from the 50s.

hkingdom those are some mighty fine looking knives, thank you for showing them to us. Thank you xgreywolfx for starting this thread, it is amazing what you can learn from here. HL

Very helpful- thank you all for this information. I would have never been able to determine it was from the 50's on my own. Any ideas on the worth of such a unique knife?
