1942 Knife?

Hello;
I have a folding knife patented circa 1942.(2,297,855) It was in the bottom of an old trunk of my brothers. The main blade looks like it has never been sharpened and there is a screw driver/bottle opener on the other end.

But also on the blade end there is a small curved blade approximately 1.25 inches long and has a factory cut out next to the hilt?

I would like to know more about this knife if possible and was made about the time that a Mr. Allen received the patent on the ”bolstered” type of fittings. It has a plastic grip with a label style image on one side.

Your response is appreciated.
Thanks
chuck

That's a Utica Cutlery Patent. Read the patent at Google Patents

Sometimes the patent marking indicates a date of manufacture within 17 years of the granting of the patent (therefore 1942-1959), but that is not concrete. Your question might be more fruitful over in the Bernard Levine area, but pictures will be required.
