with a like dated US M6 MILSCO leather sheath.

I just got this from a WWII vets widow and would like to know if it is original. BTW, the mud was on the blade when I removed it from the sheath so I left it on as it might be from the ETO!

Thank any that reply in advance.

From Bladeforums rules:

WHAT IS MY KNIFE / GADGET / SPATULA / TUNING FORK WORTH ?!?!?!?!

In order to curtail potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Accordingly, registered and basic members may not start or post in threads with such requests whether with the intent to sell or for informational purposes only. This rule applies throughout the site.

In other words, without a paid Gold membership, you don't get to ask about sale values. Too many people abused this question to hint they had a knife for sale, which you need that membership for.

Sorry about that, I would still like to find out if it is thought to be original just for the information. I will worry about value and selling at a later date. I will edit out the value part of the quesation in my post.

I would have thought you'd have already done this but - Out of curiosity I Googled M3 Camillus 1943 and came up with any number of websites that discuss this knife, including fairly extensive discussions (including pics) on what to look for when trying to avoid fakes, reproductions, etc.

IMHO what you've posted looks very correct to me. On the M6 sheaths most of the repo's have "M"'s where the center legs don't come all the way down to the level of the vertical legs, hope that makes sense. Also the number "4" on the original sheaths, the vertical line of the "4" should stop just short of intersecting with the sloped line of the "4". Repo Camillus M3's only have one pin holding the pommel to the tang, your's has the WW2 correct two pins for Camillus. Here's another for comparison.
