HI everyone,
I just wanted to share with you all this 194 I bought NIB when I got it the blade has a scrimshaw blade on it. I was wondering if I have a "3 leg buffalo" I assume that Schrade slapped this togeather as they were running out of parts. What is your opinion on this? Are there more of these and will it be worth more than a regular 194 in years to come Thanks!
Darren

That 503 is the blade that goes with the scrim version of the 194.
Could be a mix and match end of day/life product. Value? Lots of collectors go after the "different" versions. I dunno.

I think it's likely an "end of days" knife, but it also seems that mis-matched parts and oddballs were a long-standing tradition at Schrade. :)

For whatever reason, it also seems as if those trapper models were a common target for part-swapping. Here's my 194 OT with SC503 blade:

Another interesting variations, the trappers made with OT blades and plasti-stag Uncle Henry handles, like the two lower knives in this scan:

Thanks, a small set of Old Timer trappers.

Both of those Staglon Old Timers have 97OT blades.

Another common "end of days" knife category are limited editions or commemorative knives that were never marked with the final logos. Here is a knife marked SCHRADE+ USA LTD that I suspect was originally destined to be a Ducks Unlimted or something similar:

I also have a wooden-handled 14OT that probably has a similar story.
