How much would I have to cough up to purchase a ~1969 Buck 110 in good condition on the online market these days? Just curious.

well you would have to define good condition
so others know what to picture!
it would be a 2 liner of course
but a show knife or a user
or some ware in between?

Thanks Dave.
I was thinking in terms of a user. Very good condition. No box needed.
I know priced vary, but I was just wondering if a 1969 110 would fit my budget. (My budget is smaller since my wife started watching home&garden network.)

I just gotta know....WHY????

On edit, I will suggest that you would most likely be able to buy 4 or 5 brand new 110's for what you are asking for in a 3rd version.

Hmmm, let's see:
New carpet upstairs
New tile floor downstairs
New interior paint
New cabinets
New furniture
New bathroom fixtures

She watches H&G a lot, so I blaim them

Edit: or do you mean why am I interested in a 1969 110.
Answer: I had one like that when I was 16, so it has emotional appeal.

I bought an old motorcycle early this year, for sentimental value...I bought one brand new exactly like it when I was released from active duty, in 1972...the dealer screwed me over on a warranty issue, and I sold it with less than 500 miles on it... :(

I've always felt I had unfinished business with the CB500... ;)

Trax...what was wrong with the 500F? Nice scoot.

I had a CB550F that I rode everywhere for years. It eventually became a rat bike since I had it so long.

To keep this on thread...ahhh...what was the price of a new 120 back in the mid 70's? I seem to recall that it was about what it is now (if ya know where to shop).
Recently I have been asking why I look for old used ones when I can get new ones...seems like the prices for the "vintage" Bucks have been going too high lately.

you buy that one of Jakes?

No. Wrong model. :(

In 72, there was only one model 500 Four. But it was equivalent to the 550K. Long story. I'll make it short.

The problem was that American Honda directed their dealers to report all unsold cycles at the end of 71, and then they sent out new Manufacturers Statements of Origin. With the 72 year on it. At least, that is what the court determined. The early 71's had a problem with the transmission; it would select neutral or a second gear instead of the gear you wanted. The design was changed in 72 and a "warranty kit" sent out to dealers for the early models...from Honda Japan. I bought my "72" brand new off the showroom floor in Feb 72, and the gearbox jammed in gear three times while riding...twice shifting from 1st to 2nd, once from 2nd to 3rd. After the second time, I read in Cycle News that there was a problem and a fix, so I took it in. The dealer refused to fix it under warranty, saying the 72 already had the fixed parts (it did). I was really pissed, and sold the cycle and bought a Triumph. About a year later, I got a notice from a court stating that I had been identified, by VIN, as an owner of a 71 that had been registered as a 72 due to the American Honda swapped Origin documents. That's when I realized that my trans problems were due to the dealer being a scumbag. I joined the Class Action lawsuit, American Honda settled out of court, and we all received a pithy amount for our trouble.

The dealer went out of business not too long afterward, and died sometime after that. But the 500 Four was a bike I had seen in a dealer showroom on Okinawa in 71 and fell in love with. I still like the lines.

I had a fortune cookie a few years ago that read "To love something, realize that someday it will be lost." Very deep :)

Hey Larrry, I'm gettng e-mil I sent to you returned. Zup?

It's DarrylS's fault...He spelled Pack Rats name/email address wrong... :p

And since you changed your email address, you probably never got the link to the "long story"...

No, no grave burnouts...It was a nice dealership except for this affair...It's kind of strange that a Honda dealer would go out of business in the 70's, right when Japanese bikes were booming...I wonder if Honda pulled the franchise???...Have to ask about that; see if anyone remembers...
