I was messing around at a friend's house today and tripped over the handle of something sticking about 1" out of the ground. Dug it up and washed it off, and here is what I found:

After searching through this forum and others, determined it must be a 1972 Buck 119, as it has a 3 line inverted stamp and 4 spacers of micarta. It seems to be a rather rare find...am I wrong? It is badly corroded, but perhaps still worth something. Of course, I have no sheath or box. Can anyone confirm that it's a 1972 and perhaps guess at a value? Thanks!

Your first post, welcome to the Buck forum.
Yes, you are correct. 3-lines inverted is considered to be 1972.
It's a little less common because it can be attributed to 1 specific year but not rare.
1972 was the first year for the model number to be marked on the tang and in 1973 the
orientation of the tang marking rotated to upright.

You are new and probably haven't read all the rules here but value questions require a paid membership....
Let's just say it would be a good knife for the tool box...

You can send that knife into Buck and for a nominal fee you will really have something cool when it comes back. OH
