I'm confused. I located a pretty in depth site last night on Buck 110's that had pictures of all the different variations from year to year starting in 1963. All the pictures showed the different Buck stamps on the blade and going through the dot years up until 1986. My confusion is with the steel. All the models shown were stating 440C blade steel from 1963 to 1981. But I thought the 1980-81 110 was the only year for 440C. So what is the difference between the 1980-81 model and the previous two dots and earlier if they were all 440C? Here's the link for reference:

Ruger, welcome to the Buck forum. I think you just got confused, xlate night and all.
All the 110's have 440c steel up until the 4 dots. 2 dots are 440c. 3 dots are 440c. 4 dots have 425m steel and the date codes are 425m steel until 1992. That year 420hc was phased in. Hope this cleared things up. DM
