I got this piece in trade and I sent these pictures to Dr. Carter via email to get some of the history and Specs on the knife. He said it was in fact, made around 1980-81 and that the steel was 440C. The 6 3/8" long blade is 3/16" thick and has a distal taper and a tapered tang. The handle is 4 7/8" including the nickel sliver bolsters and the wood is Rosewood. The engraving was by the maker and the maker's mark was hand scribed.

Edited to add picture of sheath just finished today.

Very Nice Paul, congrats, I know the sheath is a perfect companion for the Carter knife.

Yep, Paul I'd say that it's a fighter, but well enough done that the term plausible deniability fits. The sheath makes it to me.

Hi Paul,

Always interesting to see where knives end up.

I bought that knife from Paul Basch in the late 80's.

Very nice knife.

I have one of Fred's integral fighters in my collection...the only one with Elephant Ivory. Love his work.
