I have had this since Gil first produced them all those years ago. The belt essentially wore away over all those years. I finally decided I would have to make myself a new belt as the design required more than most leather people wanted to get involved with. I started out not having ever made a belt/sheath item before and after a great deal of reading and youtube watching decided that if I was going to do this, well I would really do it.
I used 9-10oz vegetable tanned tooling leather that I had to to start off at an 1 3/4" width at the sheath and than reduce for the final pass over and through the buckle. I worked with a friend in Bulgaria to find stamps that weren't a western yawn and taught myself to tool leather by starting out on the steep end of the curve. I made a stitch horse then set about teaching myself true saddle stitching. After making two belts for the early Bowen blades, this is my 3rd belt. Hope you enjoy it.
