I just bagged my first Schrade prototype and I'm extra-super-stoked!
It seems that back in 1980 or 1981 when Schrade was planning their "Tradesman Series" (http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/tradesman/Tradesmans.pdf) they originally considered including a fancy 7OT in the set. I now own what may be the only one ever made like this. If anyone else has seen another of these please let me know! Seller bought a lot of 100 Schrades and this was one of them is all the info I can get about it.
This knife has the same "The Farmer" etch on the blade as the stockman pattern that was included in the set when it was actually issued but that's where the similarities end. Instead of the nickel silver bow-tie shield bearing "Farmer" this knife has a brass raised "rope" "Old Timer" shield similar to the Schrade "Compliments of" knives or the Silver Anniversary sterling 34OT. The handles are the typical saw-cut delrin not bone but the liner portions have some fancy jimping. Note that the swedge (false edge) looks extra aggressive and may even be sharp(?) though I will have to confirm this later. I think the sheath is the wrong vintage but I look at it as a freebie.
I received some hi-def pics the pics the seller took which I post below:
