I just may pick up a new in pack (not a box, but a cardboard and plastic hanging pack). I can't "read" the knife because it's sealed, but it's Distributed by Coghlan in Canada. It's a Barlow, says so right on the knife, brown plastic handles. On the back it's 1981 and made in Ireland.

a) who would make this?
b) is it more valuable still sealed and all?

Just checking... The place also has a scout knife and stockman in the same set-up.

Hi, we would need to see pics to identify the knife for sure. Based on the description and time-frame, I hypothesize that the knife was made by Imperial; a US company that owned Stag Cutlery of Ireland in the late 70s early 80s. Yes, probably more valuable in the pack than out but, if my hypothesis is true, it is not a large amount either way. Just my opinion.

I'll second S-K's assessment from past experience with Imperials made in Ireland.

That was my guess too... can't post pics, still at the "Antiques" shop.

I think I'll pass on it anyway, even though it's only 10 bucks.
