1985/86 Buckmaster markings question

I have what seems to be a 1985/86 Buckmaster with the 184< marking. 3C blade from what I have found.
The odd thing about mine is there is a dot after the 184< marking so it looks like "184<." but the dot is more towards the top right of the < symbol.

Any idea what the dot means?

Folger, Welcome to the forums.
The dot is most likely a mark from testing the Rockwell rating of the blade.
