Does any of you gentlemen have information ( and pics ) of an older model folder, around 1990, from Cold Steel ; the Ultra Lock.

Best regards,
Cor.

I have a tanto and a clip point Ultra Lock. Great little knives. What else do you need to know about them?

One of these?

My brother gave me this one for XMASS in the early 90's, just as Cold Steel discontinued them.

Great knife, a little odd to open one-handed until you get the hang of it.

Thank you people!
I have some more questions:

Does it have a flat ground blade ( the clip point )?

What sort of steel is the blade?

What kind of opening system?

What kind of lock?

What's the lenght of the blade?

If you have used one as an EDC, did you like it?

Thanks,
Cor.

It is flat ground, liner lock, AUS 8A. I love mine. I lost it for about 10 years, and replacing it started my love of knives.

I had one of those same knives in the pic there and it was a great knife. Unfortunately its one I lost. Never did figure out what happened to it really but I suspect that a guy I knew noticed it fell and took it. Can't prove it of course but I have always had my suspicions since other things tended to disappear when this guy was around.

I tried for years to get another one and even have a want add for one in that spear point but no one ever came forward with one.

The clip point is a fully flat ground blade.

They can be opened by the nail nick like any slipjoint or by placing your thumb on the grooved tang and rotating the blade out.

The "ultra lock" is a liner lock with the outer edge folded over for more grip surface. I think they use the same system on the Scimitar.

The blades are 3" long, handles 4". I don't know what steel.

I bought the clip point recently, but used the tanto for a long time on the job. It held a great edge, cutting cord, plastic bands, and plastic sheeting very well.

I always wanted the spear point, but that's the one I never did get. I think the clip would be the best EDC, though.

I thought mine said waht steel on it, but i just got it out of the drawer and check and it doesn't, whatever it is it holds a great edge and sharpens very easy. My "gut" says SODAK is right with AUS-8.

This looks like a really good design. I like how it has an undefined finger choil. This is probably the first CS I'd buy...let's update this with G10, 154CM and a thumbstud.

I actually have always liked these. I didn't carry mine for years because I once tried to flip the pocket clip for left-handed carry (you can't), and messed up something inside where the lock would not engage. Cold Steel wouldn't fix it since it was discontinued (I asked), so it sat for years, until about 2 years ago when I finally figured out how to fix it myself.

If it was more lefty friendly I'd carry it all the time.

If you take the clip off, the lock will not engage. I lost my first one due to a sprung clip, so I removed the clip. Had to reinstall the clip. Reasonably good little knife.

No, I bought the clip point relatively recently, just to collect it. I have too many knives to consider putting it in the rotation, most of them with longer blades, or with much shorter blades.
