Hi, I'm new to the forums and I was wondering if somebody could tell me more about this knife and how much it's worth.

It's made by AG Russel back when they were making knives under the Morseth name. It's a clip point with a hidden tang. The blade is San Mai, constructed from Swedish Steels that I'm pretty sure are no longer available, at least in the US. I know the steels are Swedish however, I'm not sure of the exact steel types. The knife is about 10.25 in. over all with a 6.25 in. blade and a 4 in. handle. The handle is black micarta with finger grooves. There are two red and two brass spacers near the steel hilt. There is a brass flat head screw drilled and epoxied into the bottom of the handle. The blade is stamped 19MORSETH91, so I'm assuming it was made in 1991. It came with a leather sheath with two rows of stitching. Any information on this knife will be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you pretty much have the knife itself figured out but it is against forum rules to ask about its value. A.G. Russell had the rights to the name, it is possible that your knife was made by Bob Dozier. You would have to puruse online auctions to get a feel for the value. It won't be really high like it would be if Harry Morseth or his son had made the knife, but it still has some collector value. I don't think they referred to their steel as San Mai but it amounts to about the same thing, they just called it laminated steel. The sheaths for the Harry Morseth knives were distinctive, the A.G. Russell sheaths are fairly ordinary in design.

You should get some photos of the knife and post it in the Bernard Levine forum and ask specific questions about the knife itself. If you really need to know the value then you can pay Mr. Levine for an official appraisal.

I liked the Morseth knives and used to look at them in the catalogs. I now have 3 of them in my collection, one of which probably is pretty close to your description.
