I was given a Buck Selector as a gift today. Nice knife! It was made in 1991 and I was curious what type of steel was used in 1991.
Thanks.

Jeff, That is one of the very first Selectors and 425 is a good steel. I think you'll enjoy it.DM

David, I hope to enjoy it for years to come. I got it from my father who was watching the kids the other night. I never even knew he had one! He has slowed down some and wanted me to have it. I will cherish it and give it to my son some day. The small opening blade is very unique. It is partially serrated with a rounded tip, good full serrated blade & great drop point.
He just used the drop point over the years. I was shocked how fast it snapped back to being very sharp. A quick strop and it is insane sharp. I like this steel so far. Thanks again. Jeff

Jeff, Buck offered nine different blades for that one handle/model. I enjoy mine everytime I use it. I think Joe H. even takes one hunting when he goes. DM

Here is a pic of the nine Selector blades......

Great photo and nice selection of blades. Mine has the one on the handle, top left and top second from left. I would like to find the bottom right & top right blades some day to add to the package. Thanks for you photo.
