I just bought a 1992 Coleman Special Sportsman Edition model 288 lantern for $3 at a flea market, it's chrome plated and in really great shape, just a little chrome polish and it looks great.

Now the question I have is, is it worth sellin' or should I keep it and enjoy it myself, the only things wrong are, it's missin' the special edition globe and it has a tiny ding in the fount(sp?).

Any idea what it might be worth or where I can get the right globe?

This is what it looks like only with the clear globe.

Hi,

I think you'll need to call Coleman about the globe. But I don't think they've changed the globes much in many years. Otherwise NOS is were you find it. I'm still using my 60's red model. Best lantern ever made. I did have to buy a new 2 burner stove about 10 years ago though.

I'm not a collector of such things. But without the correct globe, I would have to say the value as a collectable is minimal. And basicly valued as a user.
