Greetings - I bought this a few years ago (at what i thought was a good price) and was wondering if there was any information available about it ?

I am new to collecting knives and still learning all the terminology.

I was told it was triple tempered? and hand crafted ? but not sure of that or even exactly what that means. It is numbered 1744/5000 the other side stamped Kershaw Oregon USA.

I really like it and it fits my hand perfect but i haven't used it because i am afraid to screw it up so it sits on my shelf in the display box.

i have thought it maybe something nice i could leave to my son, or maybe it might be worth something if he needs help with school bills

any ideas?

thank you for any help

Eric

(i like your forum - this is my first time posting here i have a few ZT and Kershaw folders i enjoy reading the posts here )

Those knives are really awesome.. Triple tempered has to do with the forging/heat treating process..and I'm pretty sure they never made the 5000 they planned to make..

I seem to recall them selling in the $200 range. The kind of item that is manufactured as a "collectible"to be put up in your man cave.

thanks -- only thing i did with it was shave some hair off my arm to see if it was sharp - it came hair poppin sharp - but that's all i have done with it -- like you said it sits in my cave -- although sometimes it seems a waste for it to just sit there

thanks again for the replies

I have the whole 5 knife collection, they were sold from snap on trucks, I do not know anywhere else. They were going to have a new 1 every year for 5 years, it took almost 8 years to complete the set, they kept having problems, so a lot of people that started buying them quit, and complete sets are very rare ! When you bought the first knife it had a registration form you mailed in and it had the number on it, so when the next knife came out you had first chance to buy it with your number, I stuck with it and got all five of mine, I know there not priceless, but there are very few sets that are complete. when I get some time I get them out and take some pictures so you can see the whole set.

Yes! Pics please, that would be awesome. I don't think I've ever seen the entire set. Thanks!
