Greetings

During my internet hunt for further knives I came across this which I bought along with a few others. I’m hoping to gather more information regarding it so I can then pass it on to somebody else who likes the BCCI etching more than myself.

What I was told is the following

1. Prototype 1 of 1
2. 1993 BCCI on a 1990 blade
3. Curley maple wood
4. Brass bolster polished blade

Which knife was the BCCI 1993?

Thanks for any input you may have

Steve from across the big pond

Maybe it's a prototype that was rejected and they decided to go with a different knife as a club knife?

It's not unreasonable to think that Buck made samples for the Club a year or more in advance. That would explain the 93 etch on the 90 blade.

IIRC, the proto/sample knives might have "xx/xx" where the serial number would be on the opposite side as well.

These proto/sample knives won't show up on the BO lists either.

Looks good to me! You'd have to find the 110 collector, Club knife collector, or etched blade collector.

Any of those.......plus the prototype collector.

Or possibly........anybody who likes Buck knives.

:D

You have a real multi threat collector knife there.

Makes sense thanks for your input. I like proto sample knives but aesthetically i don’t like the BCCI etch :/

Ahh so is that stating they only did a 532 buck lock and not a 110 that year? :)

There's a 532 1993 club knife on e-Bay if you want a look at one.......it has the same gold blade etching.

No, they would not have two 93 BCCI knives........it's one per year.

Thus the 110 must be a prototype that was rejected and the 532 was chosen.

The 110 is too well done to be a fake of some kind.

Looks like you ran into a rare knife.

Congrats.

Thanks all for clarifying that they did not make a 1993 BCCI 110 only a 532

I have listed it as a trade on the sale page

Sk, what I'm saying is that the BCCI officers did not approve or go with a 110 version for the 'Annual knife' in 1993. Yes, that year's knife
was the model 532 Buc-lock. DM

I have seen lots of build outs using BCCI blades.
Do you think they took the 1993 blade out of an older handle and put it in a newer knife or did they have a bunch of leftovers and made buildouts back then?

A bunch of leftovers from what?

Does it seem likely that they would slap gold etches on a "bunch" blades if they hadn't chosen whether to use the 110 or the 532?

Seems to me it must be a prototype......and the only one.

That still seems like a good guess........especially if you got it from a reliable person.

And no, I'm not at all sure what point Makael was trying to make.

Maybe he will explain.
