I decided to grab a small Boker ceramic that I haven't used 2 times in 15 years and head over to the knife shop to do some horse trading. I knew it was going to be a 2 for 1 trade ratio as most dealers do but I walked away pretty happy. Picked up this NIB 1998 Case Copperlock in yellow snakeskin bone. Never sold along with a ton of Cases he has. I know the retail isn't as high as the Boker but I can and will do a lot more with it than a ceramic knife! According to info it was a run of only 500. He has 3 others that I'd like to talk him out of also. What do you think - good trade?

I'm surprised to find this thread uncommented upon. That's a fine looking copperlock!! One of my favorite patterns. Enjoy it, it's a good knife.

Here's a shot of most of the one's I have. This was posted in the "poker hand" thread a good while back.

Beautiful knife, congratulations! I think I'd trade a Boker ceramic for that too. :)

I love that thing, although the scales remind me much more of roasted corn than snakeskin. But a rose of any other name...

And I love the amount of belly on that clip blade.

Good knife! I've got one similar except in Rattlesnake Bone, after a few drinks you could swear it moved:eek::eek:

Thanks for the compliments Fellers. I am actually wanting to trade it for a mini as it is just a wee large for the pocket although not by much. I was surprised at the great lock up as some of the other so called locking slippies I've owned have not been this nice.

You should keep that one; it's too nice to give away or trade away. Pick up a mini copperlock in white delrin (Sparxx series). They are not as expensive as the knife you have and you won't feel bad about using it. I think you can get one in amber bone, too if you prefer bone scales. It's a popular pattern for Case and they put it out in a lot of flavors.

The guy at the shop has 3 more Copperlocks. A beautiful Stag, some sort of really nice white bone and my least favorite of the 3 a blue bone. He's high on the stag and white but I might go back and do some more horse trading..

I've always thought the blade on the copperlock is how all traditional clip blades should look. The swedge and long pull just look fantastic together. Reminds me of old buck slipjoints.
