Much to my surprise, I got this today (I only ordered on Monday). I was initially a little horrified at the prospect of spending so much on a factory knife, but it's worth every cent. It also went right in my pocket, 'cause this one is too good to waste. :D BIG thanks go out to to Derek for making it possible. :)

Hey Snipe, congrats! I see it showed up. Excellent! Which number did you get? I wanted one of the Satins, but they were all gone by the time I found out they were available. :( Now, I'm trying to decide if I want a black one instead....

either way I think you cant go wrong See2. I got #109.. I am at work now so i cant play with it too much.. an officemate saw it on my desk and drew up a crowd :p (oops) I said I use it to cut paper. Taught more people of the world how to operate a liner lock :D that's my good evangelistic deed of the day.

But yeah you cant go wrong with a BT 98. They are very well built.. one thing I noticed about the satin commanders is that (in mine anyways) I see a few blemishes and rough spots on the fit and finish (not entirely smooth liners), the liner lock is BARELY engaging the blade.. even the grindlines is not as sharp and crisp as you can get from a machine ground blade. The tip seemed worn down too (which you see in commanders you use.. maybe it is a product of the point geometry) Acion could use some loosening. Whether this is a probable testament that the satin ones were handmade who knows...

unlike my 98 bt which is just perfect out of the box.. (for the record I got it a whlie back, not from this sale batch) even the action was smooth out of the box and the knife was mint.. weird..

my best commander is still 98BT #554(?) but despite my whining on the fit and finish and presentation of the satin I am still happy to have the privellege to own one.
