Any ideas of the price range? How about edge style? When?!?!? I want one (or two depending on cost)! Plain edge please! Great idea guys! Thanks for doing this for us Sal! I love my Military!

Copfish - can't determine a price yet, need to go through engineering first. My guess is over $40 and under $75. Not much help, sorry.
sal

Sal, that is what I wanted to hear. If it is under $75, I want two!

That's a good price range. I'm looking forward to getting one myself.

Spark,
I'm sure that y'all are swamped with e-mail from people trying to reserve their Blue Native, but when will we be able to have some kind of varification as to whether or not we made the list.

So far we've had 150 responses, so everyone who has sent an email has made the list. The advance "reservers" will take precedence over the people who waited.

Once the knives are ready though, it will be on a first come first serve basis, with older members taking priority.

Sal -- I hope you could you keep it nearer $40 than $75? You see, I have to pay a minimum of $15 for the international shipping cost...

Spark,
So the idea of serial numbers on knives matching member numbers is out?? I really wanted to have them matching, but I can see where it could be a headache to match them up. If I can get matching numbers, good. If not, I'll live.
Blades

If at all possible, I'd prefer not to match serial numbers to the members simply for the fact that it would screw up the monthly giveaway's. Besides, considering that we have 1300+ members, and we're only buying 500 or so knives, that would make it difficult.

Are they going to be plain or serrated or both? My Girlfriend likes the little Sharky teeth...

Okay, thats cool about the numbers. Mike had just mentioned it in the other post about the Bladeforums Native.

Spark - We can make more than 500 if more than 500 want one. Just need to know before we start production. We plan to make both plain and "Sharky" teeth. Please specify which you prefer when you order so we can make the best mix for all. We would like to get you the variation of your choice seeing as how these will be custom made to begin with.
sal

Having the choice is great. Perhaps, Spark may want to ask those who are on the list to submit their choice so there is an idea of how many of each are needed.

As for me, I like it plain

Guys, please do not email me your preference right now, especially if you have already emailed an advance "reservation".

I'll construct a survey in a few minutes where you can make your preference known there, that should give us a pretty good idea of what mix we'll need.

Sal, as for the number made, we'll probably stick to 500 for now, unless we get a sudden run on orders.

Here's a question though, how are serial numbers handled with a mixture of knives blades? Would the first 250 be plain/serrated, and then then last 250 the opposite, or can they be done alternating? (1 plain, 2 serrated, 3 plain, etc)

Thanks for your patience, and thanks to Spyderco for helping make this happen.

Just to clarify, by serrated do you mean 100% or a ComboEdge configuration? I didn't think that Natives came with fully serrated blades, but just making sure.

I'll have to defer to Sal on that one, he knows what Spyderco can do better than I.

I'm hoping that plain means plain and not combo-edge. Thats what I voted for in the survey. Thanks Spark, I know you needed the extra work

.
Both you and Sal are making us all very happy and we appreciate it !

Plain edge means plain (toothless). Serrated in this case will be the normal "Native" serration which is more like 70/30 (enough plain edge for scraping, etc. The first 200 that go to our normal collectors will be the serrated version (usual tradition, but nothing is forever). I don't know if we can custom number? have to talk to the engraver but this is done "in house", so there is flexibility.

I had mentioned in one of the other threads that using a polished G-10 would give it a very nice dressy look for these special series knives -- is this going to be possible?

Thanks Sal,

Sal or Spark,

What kind of timeline are we looking at? How about a rough guess as to when we can lay our grubby fingers around that blue Native?

Thanks!
