Hi Gang! I was just gifted a 1999 CQC7A, PS, from a dear friend. Thank you, Roger.
I need help with these questions: The blade looks to be bead-blasted, not hard-chrome coated.
The thumb stud is satin and a slotted screw is used, not a phillips.
The handle is drilled for TU/TD and 3 slotted screws, not phillips, are used.
Is my description of this CQC7A folder typical for the 1999 models?
danks!

Congrats Rolf, thats one cool friend. I have a 99 specwar that has similar hardware so sounds right. I cant speak to the 99 cqc-7 but I have searched alot on info for the 99 specwar and found that 99 spec seems correct. So I am sure your 7 seems correct. I know the older vintage EKI's had flat head screws used and the blade characteristics were different. the link below is a pic of my modded 99spec and may not show you much but you can see the flat head thimb disc screw at least.

Hi Rolf -

Here are pictures of my 99 CQC7 - not an 'a' model, but might be similar?

This one has a black thumb-disc, and it does have a slotted screw on the disc -

If you remember, this is the knife I had Phil Dobson convert to this -

Rolf,

Your description is that of a very very early model 1999 CQC-7A. The very first models had the following characteristics -

Bead blasted blade
Partial serrations
Domed pivot
Tapped for tip up/tip down right handed carry
Smoother G10
Satin thumbdisk
Slotted fasteners for the clip and thumbdisk

Later models had Phillips head screws for the thumbdisk and clip. Also the serrations on later 1999 models were a slightly different pattern.

That's a hell of a gift to get. You have a great piece of Emerson history right there. Please, for the love of Ernest, don't modify it.

Man! Thanks very much everyone!
Yes, this is one special folder and I know which Emersons to leave stock... most of them!
Thanks for all the pix too!
