So as I almost wasted my precious 1,000th post on offering a rebuttal over in The General Forum and caught myself, deleted the response and came over here to make my 1,000th post.

Why? Because I want to use it to say that the Traditional Sub-Forum is the single nicest place on BF's. So much community, so much generosity and never a fight.
You all make it that way so thanks for making a place I can go and feel like I am at home or hanging out with good friends.
I am not always as active in the forums as many folks here but I spend a lot of time at BF's and most of the time here in Traditional.

So I am going to GAW a Black Case SS Sodbuster Jr and a Victorinox Alox Bantam to some lucky Traditional Forum member. You must have some regular activity here in the Trad sub-forum.

Here's how it will work, if you want in say "I'm in" and post a picture of your longest owned Traditional knife. Something you may have had from childhood, teens or inherited from a loved one. Either way the knife you have possessed the longest.
If you don't want in on the GAW we would still love to see or hear about that knife.

The GAW will run through July 4th and on the 5th I will use a random number generator (not very "old time" I will admit) to pick among the entries.

I will start it off with my Buck 112 and my Buck 503. Both are from around the 9th grade. The 112 had the very tip chipped of so I repofiled by hand long ago. The 503 I mistakenly let the knife sharpening service the Health Food store I worked in to touch up and sharpen, it came back with a lot of metal ground off, I fixed it by hand on a stone long ago and it is razor sharp.
With the knives are an old Stanley wooden ruler and a Chinese padlock, both cool old stuff.

So thanks again everyone for being a part of this forum and good luck.

Congratulations on the milestone Billy. Not an entry, but this is a very generous giveaway, thank you

Congrats on the grand, Billy, and thanks for the chance. Easily my longest owned is this Ulster scout knife from when I was around 8 yrs old, so mine for over 50 years.

I am in, thanks! Here is the traditional that I have had the longest, about 10 years I think.

It's funny you posted that folding ruler- I just picked one up exactly like it a few days ago! Not an entry BTW. :)

I'm in, thanks. This was my granddad's old Remington. He's been gone a long time, (over 50 years) but I still have the knife.

Not an entry, because I have a black ss sb jr (see today's "did your trad get a workout" thread).
Here are my oldest-to-me knives, though: the Vic SAK must be oldest, as my parents bought it in Switzerland when I was 10 (1967).

Congrats on the landmark post, thanks for the GAW chance, and good luck to the entrants.

Congrats on the landmark post.
Count me in for the GAW but only for the Vic Alox as I already have a Soddie Jr.

This Wenger SAK is my oldest. Not sure about the age but probably more than ten years ago.

My "oldest" traditional knife I have only had for a few years.

It is my Grandfather's barlow. I waited 37 years for it.

My oldest traditional is not with me, and I have no pictures. It is a kind of a mix between a buck 110 and a camp king. It has a main blade, saw, scissors and screwdrivers and a can opener etc. I had an Old Timer stockman as a child, but it was stolen.

Good onya Bill.
I'm in
My grandads stuff

Please count me in on your kind offer. Here's my oldest companion along with its new friend. I believe I bought the old Case in the late sixties.

I realized I should have stated you must be 18 years or older.
Great knives! Keep em coming!

I'm in and celebrating a bit. My wife gave me this one back in 2000. It was my only pocketknife for 10+ years. It's been lost for about a year, found during my recent move.

And the winner is 5-Shot, congratulations. PM me and I will get the knives out to you. Enjoy them.

Billy,

Thanks for your generous gesture and for your random number generator's capricious choice of me as the winner. Apparently, however, there are some unforeseen eligibility issues. The system won't allow me to access Pmail, presumably due to my admitted "new guy status" or some some oversight. No hard feelings and spin the crank again.
