Hello all Ive lurked around for about a year, but today enough!

onto my question, what do you think my new 1K waterstone should be?

I have been free hand sharpening for many years now and am proficent at it. Another side note I have a Naniwa SS 1K on order but I dont know if It will be hard enough for general tools what do you think good choice bad choice?

thanks in advance!~josh

I use my Naniwa 1K on kitchen knives and shop tools... a few of my kitchen knives are 61+ hrc in about 6 different steels and it does great. Good choice for a 1k.

I like the best of sharpening tools so my stone choice was Nubatama. Nubatama stones are very fast stones that emulate the qualities of natural stones like no other stone. My personal favorite currently is the Nubatama bamboo 1k gold stone, It's a bit harder of a stone but produces a nice working mud and a high degree of sharpness with good "bite", a good edge for general cutting.

I was thinking about a Nubatama but the price seemed a little  . but then again I do love stones...

The price is very fair for what you get.
