Hello new to the forum and sorry for the more then likely the 1000th thread on a EDC. But.....

I am looking for a EDC, my work has restrictions on what they believe are weapons. So I am looking for something with a 2.5" or smaller blade, I would prefer a automatic but not necessary. I am extending my max budget on this purchase as it will by main everyday carry piece. It will never leave my side and will pair off with my Kimber Super Carry HD Pro(obviously not at work), so it would be a joy if the grips of the knife are black/blue G10's like my 1911.

Thank you, for your help.

If you can go a little over the 2.5 the Chaparral is a beautiful little EDC blade at 2.8".

The Spyderco Gayle Bradley Air is also a beautiful little blade. Silver Twill and M4. It doesn't have a clip but would slide nicely into any pocket.

If you like the look of all ti, and want something small but beefy that can handle tough and light jobs with a great blade steel and all Blue G-10 back spacer. The Spyderco Techno is a nice all around EDC.

^^^ The Boker Albatros is similar in size and design and also has a good EDC blade steel. It's also cheaper.

Check out the SOG Spec elite mini... the msrp is a little high but I am sure you can find it a little cheaper. I paid pretty close to msrp...but I absolutely love this knife. It is my favorite running knife, very low profile and super light in the pocket. I don't usually like knives this size with clips, but this one is well executed. The slight recurve really makes this knife bite into whatever it is cutting.

Get the SOG Flash I. I love it and it's so perfect for what you seem to want. Not an auto, it's spring assisted

I love my SOG Flash 1, Spyderco Ambitious, and Spyderco Meerkat (extra cool points with the lock on the Meerkat)

Here are a few in that size range that I kinda like...

Boker Plus Tom Krein Pocket Bowie
Buck 55
Fallkniven U2
Spyderco Dragonfly 2

Good luck, OP! :)

When I am out and about I always bring my sog access card2.0 tini that's for low profile but if I am at work I will carry my sog spec elite mini, great little knife very smooth opening/closing and that thing is sharp as all hell.

Personally, I like my blades a little bigger. I'd go for the Spyderco Dragonfly in G10. I have a couple of the Spyderco Kopa models, and you may still find some of them online.

Ka-bar mini dozier, I own the regular dozier and I love the thing. I believe the mini is 2.5in tip to handle from what I remember seeing someone measure it on youtube which seems about right as ka-bar measured the blade length on the actual blade portion on my dozier 3in which is right but tip to handle (which in my area is how the law is written) it would be considered being over 3in. What I mean is that with how they say this knife is 2 1/4 or something along those lines the measurement is different depending on how you measure it.

Swiss Army Knife Cadet, the likely hood of your work ever hassling you over a swiss army knife is slim to none if those were the requirements. These things are viewed as tools by majority of the population and not weapons like with normal folders from my experience. Should be 2.5in tip to handle blade length.

+1 on the various swiss army knives.
Spyderco is about to release a blue G-10 Lava, which is an awesome LBK.

A Kershaw Scallion will give you an assisted opening knife in that size. How about a fixed bladed knife? The Boker Voxknives Gnome with green micarta makes a nice pocket knife. I also say ditto to the G10 Dragonfly.
