I finally have my first Becker, receiving it from my little men as a Father's Day gift. It's a 16, which is exactly what I wanted. Odd in that I hadn't told them this. I apparently left my browser open to Blade Forums Becker sub-forum, and had bookmarked a few BK16 pages. So, I think I have Blade Forum members to thank.

I hadn't heard of Becker before joining this forum recently. I do far more reading than posting, and really appreciate all the information on this site.

This knife is intended to be used on my frequent bowhunting trips. I'm not a guy who does a lot of batoning and that kind I thing, and picked the 16 as it looks suited to reducing animals to tablefare. I will be bowhunting black bear in less than 2 months, and should get a chance to test my theory.

So far, I really like the 16, and doubt it will be my only Becker. I can find very little fault with the knife - it feels great in hand, and although the factory edge wasn't as good as I like, that never bothers me. Maybe 10 minutes of light work, and its push cutting coloring book paper(I have kids, and finally found a use for those books), and shaving hair with ease.

Only partial "fault" I found is that the cutting edge on one side was kind of incomplete at the heel. Not enough to bother me, and I am assuming I can change that.

Anyway, I'm liking Becker, and I'm really glad I found this page.

Welcome and congrats. It's nice to see someone take the little anomalies that often come with a good value knife in stride and see them for what they are - easily fixed and a chance to make this knife your own. You'll fit in around here just fine.

Very good choice and it should suit your needs well! Congrats on the new blade and welcome to Bladeforums!

Congrats man! You'll love the knife. Post some pics of the bear and knife if you have any luck for all us hunters on here :)

Welcome to the fold. It appears that these things are more addictive than anything else out there. You can't just have one. :)

Congrats!

I'm new to the Becker family as well having just bought my BK2 (my first) back in the first week of this month. I've already bought a second and am eying a third. Someone else (sorry, don't remember who so can't give proper credit) mentioned, and CDKJudoka implies above, that they are like potato chips - and they are. :D

Enjoy the knife and this subforum which I have found is made up of a bunch of very cool folks.

Yup, the 16 is a great starter....well, they all are but, you know what I mean. Welcome to the family.

Next month you'll be sporting an 11 or a 14, I almost guarantee it, LOL

Very cool. The 16 is on my wish list. I'm just going to have to wait a little but to make that happen.

For some reason the 2 is calling my name. I cannot think of a legitimate purpose for owning it, but I seem to want it regardless. :o

If that would be my driving factor (and maybe it should be) I would only have one or two knives. Instead I have, well, more than I need lets say. :)

Just go buy the darn thing. You won't be sorry. Love my BK2.

But let me make a recommendation - buy the BK22 instead. The only difference is the sheath. The glass nylon sheath that comes with with BK2 looks good, but is difficult to use (the knife goes in easily but tough to get out of the sheath) while the BK22 comes with a Heavy-Duty Polyster Sheath With Front Cargo Pocket. Much nicer, more user friendly, more functional. JMO. I ordered the polyester sheath from Tomar's and may work on modifying the original sheath.

Haha! I can't think of a legitimate reason for you NOT owning one!:D
The BK 2 is a bad, bad boy!
You'll love it.

Congrats on the new 16!
Everything about the form and function of the 16 is great.
Welcome, and thanks for the pics!

What a great fathers day gift . My son made me a kydex sheath that is due here later this week for my 17. He had to ship the toys due to flying here for the summer. You will enjoy and be sure to return the favor to those boys when they get old enough to have their own

I just put in an order for the 16, now the waiting game... essentially I traded a ESEE 3 for the 16. The handles were too thin for me and a bit too short. Looking at the 9 down the line.

Oh, I plan on returning the favor. They would like their own knives (and bows, guns, etc) now. We'll get there. They have their own recurves already, and I just picked up two of these this week. Red Ryder Carbines - sure, not the fanciest of air rifles, but a classic in its own right.
