I finally have my first Becker, receiving it from my little men as a Father's Day gift. It's a 16, which is exactly what I wanted. Odd in that I hadn't told them this. I apparently left my browser open to Blade Forums Becker sub-forum, and had bookmarked a few BK16 pages. So, I think I have Blade Forum members to thank.
I hadn't heard of Becker before joining this forum recently. I do far more reading than posting, and really appreciate all the information on this site.
This knife is intended to be used on my frequent bowhunting trips. I'm not a guy who does a lot of batoning and that kind I thing, and picked the 16 as it looks suited to reducing animals to tablefare. I will be bowhunting black bear in less than 2 months, and should get a chance to test my theory.
So far, I really like the 16, and doubt it will be my only Becker. I can find very little fault with the knife - it feels great in hand, and although the factory edge wasn't as good as I like, that never bothers me. Maybe 10 minutes of light work, and its push cutting coloring book paper(I have kids, and finally found a use for those books), and shaving hair with ease.
Only partial "fault" I found is that the cutting edge on one side was kind of incomplete at the heel. Not enough to bother me, and I am assuming I can change that.
Anyway, I'm liking Becker, and I'm really glad I found this page.
