The title says it all. She came in the mail this morning. Ill admit, Im a Spyderco guy but, am impressed with my first BM. Cant say enough about the Axis lock. BM really nailed it imo. Fit and finish are what I would expect. Im just a little concerned about the centering of the blade though. Would like y'alls thoughts on whether its gonna be a problem or not. Besides that Im am really enjoying her. Nice and sharp and I was really surprised at what a nice box/package you get. I really dig the little bag BM includes. A very nice touch. Well, as they say - pics or it didn't happen....

Centering looks just fine. If you want a knife that is centered by micro millimeters go for a custom job, not a production blade. Excellent knife anyhow, start saving for your next. I started with a BM259S, next thing you know I got a few dozen. Welcome aboard

MacLaren1. That is about what mine was off. I am a little anal and it wasn't good enough for me. Especially when I couldn't fix it myself, so I sent it in. I know myself and it would have bugged me every time I looked at it.

I'd carry that knife and never worry about the blade centering.

Thanx Dan. I can certainly understand that.

That's pretty much what I'm gonna do.

I agree with you 100%.

With the reinforced tip and the swedge on the 810 any variance, no matter how slight will stand out. Very little to no room for error.

If it isn't rubbing and it's clearly not, I wouldn't worry about it. As mentioned before if it really bothers you, you can send it in but I don't see the point. I'd keep it as is and not worry about it.

Looks like you're good to go!

ETA: Of the six 810's I've owned (Sold, traded, and gifted the other five) the one I kept is about as off as the one you have, but I kept that one because it's so smooth, and I mean really nice, I wouldn't even try and mess with it to try and correct what to me isn't a problem in the first place.

All the best!

Awesome. Ya know, most knives I get I, add a drop of M-Pro7.
But, this knife is smooth as silk. ....but, I still wanna add a drop :)
I don't think that would hur would it? And I mean just a little. I realize too much can attract stuff we don't want.
And man are you right about no room for error on this one. I was thinking about that last night and was gonna mention that.
Thanx again!

I oil all my knives with Break-Free CLP. It's a gun oil but good stuff. Provides great lubrication and excellent corrosion prevention. I apply, let sit and then wipe off the excess. The rest will evaporate but it leaves a protective film that continues to add to function enchainment and corrosion prevention.

I haven't noticed it attracting any more or less pocket lint or dirt then knives I haven't oiled.

Try what you have. It can't hurt and if you don't like the results stop using it but I don't see how a little oil will hurt anything. Like I said, in my experience oiling parts that move only enhances function.

I think a little oil is always a good thing.

All the best!

Lol.....I'm really starting to dig this Contego!
The Axis lock is the titts!!!
Silky smooooth operator brah.....
Its nice having the best of both worlds.

Drool ;)

Lol, nah, just kidding. Heck knowing me it could be a bit of gease.
I had just got thru with breakfast when she came (bacon&eggs) :)

Man, if ya could somehow equate knives to cars, then this would be the '67 Fast Back Shelby Mustang
"Eleanor"

I gotta get one of these. Love the standard model to death. I know some prefer the blue top g10, but I really like the black. Either way I guess. Congrats! :)

Ya know, I really do prefer the black. And, thank you.
The one I got is just silk smooth. As I'm sure all prolly are.

So, after a couple drops of M-Pro7, this baby has gotten even smoother lol.......It's pretty amazing.
