Well back form bladeshow..My first one and it was a blast. I went solo so it was a bit unusual, but everyone was extremely friendly and I really didn't feel to out of place.. I was a bit of the odd man out and made a vow now to get into one of the cliques!
Got in at Atlanta and got hopelessly lost as rented without GPS. Ill just call it my scenic route as it was a bit further from the airport then I imagined. Especially the route I took. I hit up the vortex and got the cornary bypass which was well worth it.
I waited about 5 hours and was about the 20th person inline so that was fun getting to talk to people as I was next to people from Virginia and a guy from Australia! Meeting all the makers like Todd Begg, Ryan Johnson, Hinderer, Scott Mcghee <2 knives on order> among Brend and Devareaux was quite fun! Among many others..
I wasn't a fan of the lotteries much and now after being on various forums for 15 years, some of those threads on frustration make much much more sense!! Seems to me the best way is to invite couple of your buddies and win by proxy, but the even worse thing is I might be addicted to them to at the same time.../grr ... I have to get picked now....
Meeting all the knifemakers themselves was truly fun!!
I really hope I have a another chance to hit the bladeshow again for sure!
I bought a benchmade for my brother as a firefighter and had the blade reprofiled by Wicked Edge. Got a Walter Brend Rescue and a Butch Devareaux. I have a unique taste in fixed blades but that Devareaux called my name and feels so so alive in hand.
