Hello All,

It was maybe a week or so ago I joined the forums.

I asked you'all which balisong should be my 1st (brand-newbie question).

Most who responded said the BM-42 was a good choice. You'all also recommended getting some band-aids ready ;) .

Well...how right you'all are :o .

I've drawn 1st blood!

It was an imporperly performed latch drop. Somehow...uhhh...I managed to let my pinky slip between the latch handle and the blade when closing. Bad timing probabily.

Now I know why the latch handle is also called the bite handle ;) .

Ohhh well, I've got nine fingers left...:D .

lol, congrats!

I managed to cut myself with my BM42S when it was locked open the other day, as I was cutting up the top of a Wilson volleyball to make Wilson from Cast Away.

I don't consider a blade mine unless it bites me from time to time. I definetly couldn't name one unless I've gotten a nice little nip from her (my baby Ami stabbed about 1/4 into my thigh).

Hello All,

I suppose it's like not owning the motorcycle until you have to push it a mile or two ;) .

I certainly won't stop flipping my BM-42, I play, I pay.

OK...back to Clay's site...uhhh I mean work :D .

The bm42s are great arent they ? I got my bm42A not to long ago and it has also drawn first blood. I did a simple throw with tape on the blade. I exacuted it perfecttly but when I caught it my hand lost its grip and the point just went into my hand. It didnt really hurt ("much")but it made me realize that the points of the bm42s are extremely pointy. Ever since then I just make sure that the point has at least two layers on it. Once you get to learning the throws I recommend you do the same thing lost dog.:D That way you can save yourself some bandages.:)
Remember you cant get worse.....you can always get better.
(most of the time)Dont let the blood scare you away.:D

Hey Chinese man,

At this point I'm not ready for any aerial maneuvers. Just opening, closing, etc...The best I can do, is a basic finger twirl :D .

Also, I haven't taped my BM-42, perhaps when I'm ready to start aerial maneuvers, or manipulations that use the bite handle more often, I'll throw some tape on ;) .

Questions: What kind of tape is best to use? After you're ready to lose the tape, how do you get the !#$~ing adhesive off the blade  ?

Anyhow, thanks for sharing...LD

I prefer electrical tape, it is stronger than scotch. To take it off, if there is any crap left over on the blade you can just use warm water and a cloth or paper towl, though WD-40 and a paper towl works great was well. BTW, "Goo Gone" or any other adhesive remover works the best.

Yeah electrical tape is what I use all the time. When ever I do get some goowey stuff  on my blade I just rub it with my hand and it goes away. :D
