Just got my very first buck a 119 Special and I must say what a sweet knife. I have two questions: Where can one find a Buck General? and second I would like a small fixed blade Buck any suggestions?

WVd,

Check out joining the Buck Collectors Club, you get a newsletter, some good fancy custom knives to purchase if desired, and the access to the computer site with histories of the knives and newsletters and catalogs. Special discounts from Buck Knives and also other regular info too.

Then be patient, some of the fix blade guys will help you out, especially if you intend to visit and post at the sight. Especially liked are pictures of your knife(s) in interesting locations or doing some good work.

So hang around, join the discussions and look for knives at Buck Web site, a local dealer or websites that come up on a search for that model. I don't mess a lot with the fixed blades just cheerleading Buck knives...

I have'nt seen a General in displays for a long time myself, wonder if Buck makes it anymore.I heard the Pathfinder is being discontinued as well,if so,what a shame.

Cabela's use to carry the General (or 120), but did not see it listed in thier catalog. They had the exclusive rights to sell it for the last few years. HL

ITE we are not suppose to be promoting that here.;);) After all they do not contribute to us do they?:D HL

It's ok to mention e-Bay......just don't post links to active auctions unless there is an abounding necessity to DISCUSS that auction for some reason.

(Have a REALLY good reason.)

The 120 was discontinued years ago, but certain retailers have contracted for limited runs (which is why you see them offered sometimes). Cabela's sells them, but the blade looks like a billboard with their proprietary trademark running all over it. Ruins them for me, but some don't mind.......They've had them at around $70.

Check the "For Sale" sticky and use e-Bay to get a handle on prices. They seem to go for $75 to $100 on e-Bay--more for older ones in nice shape--more for older ones in the box with papers.

Welcome to the Buck forum, and your first Buck knife! Congrats, the 119 is a great knife!
As far as small fixed blade.... Any preferences? Material, blade steel? sheath type?
I would recommend one of the Paklite models, or say one of the new Bucklite MAX fixed blades.... Or Buck has the new ergo hunter small game model, that kind of intrigues me.
The list is endless ;)

I would go to Bucks website and do a search, just pick what length blade you consider small!

Good luck!

At one time, not too long ago, a new 120 could be had for $65. If you liked writing on the blade. I got my two off the bay. I second the motion on getting a 102 for a small knife. A 102. 119 and 120 is a nice mix.
