1st Emerson on the way and a question

I just ordered my first Emerson the other day and I am pretty stoked. It's a Super CQC 7 and I got it for a good price. But the description says it has a satin stonewashed blade. I thought it was either one or the other. Is the satin finish a bead blasted finish? If so then I really hope it comes stonewashed.

Also are there different letter designations for the different non coated finishes?

Thanks in advanced

I believe the "SF" denotes satin finish. I'm not sure when they started it, but I know the '10 models at least, have a satin finish on the blade grind & the flat part of the blade is stonewashed. So, to answer your question, it'll probably be stonewashed on the flat part with satin finish on the grinds.

As far as I know there's only "SF" for satin finish & "BT" for black finish. The only other letter designations is the addition of "S" at the end of SF or BT for serrations.

Hope that helps & congrats on your 1st Emerson.

Unless marked as 'black', all the new Emersons are 'stonewashed'. The older 'satin' finished blades were actually Ceracote painted to give a bead blasted sort of finish.

Got it yesterday. It's a 2011 model super cqc-7 with a stonewashed blade. It came pretty tight, but after a little adjusting it opens a lot easier and is very smooth. And came rediciously sharp. I am impressed with it though I did snap the head off one of the pocket clip screws. Bummer, but I'll email them and see if they will send one out

Friend! Describe in detail the knife, the fact that I also want to buy it, I have never had this brand of knives, but I'm seriously thinking about buying

There is a good review of one on YouTube. Just look up Emerson super and you will see one by guitarmikey. It is awesome knife. I am still breaking it in so it's a little stiff but smooth if that makes since. Sharpest knife I have ever had out the box.
