Traded with a member here for an unused beautiful 7" Gen 1 Green Beret. Don't know much about this particular iteration other than it has "first generation finish" which I think is PVD (whatever that is). I believe it is S30V steel but not certain. The knife comes with original box and documents. For those of you with this knife will the documents in the packaging indicate the type of steel used? Also curious about your experiences with this knife good and bad. I've seen some say the S30V is easy to chip etc. The knife should arrive next week so I'm interested in your reviews and PHOTOS if you have any to share

Don't know much about "generations" other than the original green beret knives didn't have the "idaho made" stamp on them. The originals were also only made in 7". The 5.5" models came later, and then they were all stamped later with the "Idaho made" on one side, With the CR logo on the other. The Originals had the CR on both sides. And then later they stopped with the PVD black and started coating them with KG guncote. The PVD id damn near indestructible. The gunkote is easily scratched and rubbed through.

I believe the original 7" GB's were all SV30 steel.
