New to forums and basicly knives. I'm looking for a lightweight gentle folder and the CRKT ripple has caught my eye. Any suggestions about similar knives ? I also checked out eros. Honestly since this a starter knife this is the max for my budget. I've looked other knives, some kershaws and others but can't seem to get past the ripple because of style, size and weight. Any advise or opinions

Not sure that counts as a gents knife. Style is nice, but to me a gents knife has a wooden handle and needs two hands and a fingernail to get open.

Style, size, and weight are all pretty well matched in Ken Onion's Kershaw designs.

I'm a Leek Freak, and prefer the look of the Leek to the Ripple.

I second this. The Kershaw Onion designs are superb knives for a fair price. And they come in so many colors, styles, and materials its easy to find one that suits you. I have both a Leek and a Chive, and they get used more than just about every other knife I own.

Having said that, if you like the Ripple, go for it. It is a good knife. My suggestion would be to try and handle the models you are interested in, see which one feels the best in your hand.

I also like the leek, I agree that I should see and handle 1st hand, pictures on the internet can be deceiving. I guess I hate to admit that I'm attracted to the different design. This is coming from someone that their EDC is a CRKT Mo'skeeter.

One of my favorite knives and it's not expensive by comparison to my collection, is my Kershaw SS Random Leek framelock with S30V blade. This little sucker slides through packaging and mail like a razor blade. BTW small enough to be a gentleman's knife. But I prefer my Benchmade 940 for church etc.. All of my other folders are beasts ZT 0301 being the "smallest" of them. Love that Leek though!! :D

Well outside of the price range of CRK's, I currently own a Benchmade Mini-Dejavoo. It seems to be a pretty reasonable gentlemans folder. It's sleek, elegant, and doesn't look outrageously tactical. It's what I carry when I wear a suit along with a titanium yawara stick and a Fenix P3D. :D

Thanks for the help. I'm just trying to get "my feet wet" may be off topic but alot of the wally-worlds have kershaws on sale zing, blur,od and maybe others. I think the're getting rid of the box format going to skinpak. I think these were priced in the $20 something bracket. I hate to be so budget minded but I guess its a sign of the times in my case

$16 - kershaw chill or CRKT drifter

both are great but i like the chill more.

but the buck vantage avid is a much better deal at about $32, but you get a lot more.
