Yep, in three years this is the first knife I've ever used Desert Ironwood on. Now I can understand all the attraction, the stuff is beautiful. I got it off of Pop's. Asked him for some nice presentation grade pieces and he came through as always (still not as nice as Rene's though). ;)

Looking good J.. Its got to be the worst smelling wood on the face of the earth while working it even with a mask on. Every time I use it I check to see if I didn't step in something.

Thanks.I actually didn't think it was all that bad. Smelled like burnt popcorn to me. Of course, my cold shop is in the upstairs of the barn and my forge shop is next to the pasture.

Nice piece of ironwood J., goes really nice on that cool blade. Beautiful package, I like it.

LOOOOKING GOOD:) :) Yep, Rene and Ironwood. I sure hope he goes to the NY show and we can go the the Koval table together.;) J. if you still have when you come to build your forge, bring it so I can check it out.

Sorry, George, it's already on it's way to Kentucky. I got a couple others to bring and show ya though. I hope to post them this week. Just waiting for Tess to finish everyone else's sheaths.
:(

Nice looking wood, and knife.
I hope you're using a respirator when you work that stuff. It can cause fungal infections in the lungs that are very bad.

It has a natural pesticide in it that is way stronger than anything you can buy over the counter.

How many of you 'smiths are using stabilized wood vs plain ? That wood sure looks nice .

J.
Nice Really Nice!!!!!
Ok, so I lost out to a beautiful piece of ironwood to Indian George at Koval's table one year.. :p :barf:   :p :grumpy:
It doesn't even bother me....  :D

Mete I think everyone would like to have everything stabilized if they could, speaking for my self that is :footinmou :)

Mike you gave me an idea new thread coming up :D

Very slick looking knife there J. Has a Bolo sort or sweep, but much more graceful. The handle is just plain beutiful as well!

Fantastic, J! I'd love to hold that one, it just begs to sweep the air... :D This would do a great job as a camp knife in my book, don't know what the customer's intended use (if any, how could you?) is. Thanks for sharing,

Dave

Thanks all. The gent getting this one is going to be using it to clear brush and shooting lanes. He's a serious hunter and puts knives to the test. I've done well so far and hope this one stands the test, too.
