Can anyone help me post the pics? All I had was a scanner but there pretty good.
I used 01 steel and made a sheath for it. The sheath is too tight but it goes in. No more that I will carry it it will work. Leather is an art all in itself!

Let me know if you want a pic emailed to you or you can help me post.

That is really well done, knife and sheath!
Interesting ricasso and comfortable looking handle.
Please give us some more specs.
Congrats on your first; you are off to a great start.
Regards,
Greg

Well, the ricasso is derived for a goof! I was hand filing and just went with it. The handle is purple heart wood. I made the sheath out of plain old 7/8 oz leather. I didn't have any leather finnishing products so I used my burts beeswax chapstick and a hairdryer.
The sheath is too tight so I'll have to make another one...If this one effects the edge by being to tight. I still have yet to sharpen it and use it though.

That's definitely better than my first knife!

My first knife was so ugly we nicknamed it the neanderthal! I've still got it but nobody, I mean nobody gets to see that one!

Congrats on a very nice looking first knife.

Sean

Well blgoode, shut my mouth! What a knife! Well done.

Where did you learn your trade? That long of a grind line and straight!

I quit!

Steve:) :D :)

oh Sh**....Well, thats a complement if I ever heard one!!!

I used a lot of elbo grease and a 4" x 36" belt sander along with hand files. I have done various "making stuff" over the last 10 yrs. I made a guitar once, that gave me help on the handle. Sando has me speechless:o

Outstanding job! If my first ( i'm taking a break from grinding now )comes out half as good as that I will be happy. Nice looking knife.

Rick

no, its my first. I have 2 more but there still in rough form that need finnishing...then HT'ed. I wish it was my second....I like it best for all around kitchen / drop point type.

ahh, ok. I just thought that one you posted awhile ago was your first. What type of pins are in this knife, there very interesting.

There loveless style bolts from texas knifemakers supply. Very easy to use. I like them alot!

I posted this blade a while back but hadn't finnished it yet. I wanted opinions on weather to HT myself or send it out. I am glad I sent it out because of its size. I still may try to HT or just use my time in otherways while its out for H???
What do you guys do?

Way to go Brian. I got your email but was not here yesterday evening and just got back home. It really does look good and that handle work is great. I like the way you did the tang end too.

Now, let us all know here how you heat treated that O1.

After knowing you can make a nice knife, especially being your first, you must really be hooked now.

Roger

Well, I hate to say it but I heat treated the good ol' way....let bearclaw do it:)

He did an awsome job. I still cant figure out if the HT time required is better spent on a new knife, while the knife is out for HT or to do it yourself. I almost have everything to do the HT myself so we shall see ;)

I would like to say I did the HT but I'm not there just yet!
