I have had several of the "old style" mnandi and have always liked their design. I for one liked the clip better, the easy one hand opening, the large blade pivot that helped to hold the inlay, etc. Sadly, I had sold all the "old style" off years ago. When trying out the "new style", I just did not warm up to it. Mainly because I disliked the polished nail nick which made one hand opening much tougher. So I sold those 2 off some time ago as well.....................

Happened upon this mnandi on the exchange and thought I would revisit and give it another try. I can open this "one handed", though it is more difficult than the oldies. I am just at the point as to where its not a deal breaker for me and I just wanna plain enjoy the mnandi again. I know the 3M tape used to hold the inlays will keep it where it needs to be, so the smaller blade pivot is not so bad.

As has become my custom, I take it apart, thoroughly clean it and lube it up for the long haul. This one is in Gabon Ebony, a wood I never really looked at, but this one called out to me with a few cream color streaks to make it interesting.

I did notice that the little mnandi has different bronze bushings these days. I did not notice on the other "new style" I had because I did not take them apart. Awesome little knife overall and I am glad to say I am back among the Mnandi Owner Club....!!! #103

iPhone pics came out pretty good :D

The hidden detail of the Mnandi for me is the upsweep of the "clip" point. It was not until I owned one that I noticed that. Your photos show that nice curve on the blade very well. Nice Score!

Nice ebony, one of CR most handy knifes to own. You forget it's in your pocket.

That is a nice example to get things started again. That's a nice looking bit of ebony with the wee bit of blonde to it, congrats. :)

Always a special time when one receives a new CRK. Congrats! (I like the wood)

Very nice. I have the same model and it's always winds up being the one that goes to work with me. Congrats.

I love Mnandi. Great grab.

I will get one again sometime, I am sure. It has been a little while since I have owned one too. I don't think I will mind the new nail nick since I usually end up opening it up two handed when I am in public. It gives more of a gentleman like feel to me. Haha...

I love the character of the gabon ebony (and the feel) but if you wipe it with oil it will go to all black. Mine has a blonde streak on the back that goes away completely with a swipe of oil and gradually reappears in a couple days.

I love the Mnandi. It's classy looking and a great size for everyday use in the modern world. The wood has darkened significantly over the years, but here's mine in Snakewood:

I started a Chris Reeve Knives BST page on Facebook. There are Mnandi on there For
Sale as well. With the great Exchange we have here and what I hope to accomplish over there, it's gives us 2 solid reliable places to search out our favorite CRK's. Spread the word.

I am really happy with this one. Is a definite keeper for sure. Now Lookin for more eventually....!!!

Crap NyfeMaker, now I'm gonna have to get of FB again.

Very nice.

I have 2 Ebony Mnandi's, both the old style. 1 with a s30v blade and one with a spirograph damascus blade.
Both have perfect jet black scales which is what I prefer but I must admit that those "blonde" stripes in yours are looking really nice.

Congrats on getting #103- it's a fine piece.
