Got 2 favorite knives photographed at the NY show. Both Hanson's, one straight and one folder. Had a great time catching up with Wally Hayes, Jon Brand, and Herb Derr. Also great to meet Coop.

The "Wicked Bowie" is the first knife in my collection that was made for me. Documentation from Don says it is the 1st with his MS stamp.

The gold folder was a gift to my wife, who also collects knives. It's great buying knives as gifts for special occasions vs handbags :D

Thanks for looking,

Rob those are some great knives there. I've always admired the series of gold knives Don made. That bowie is awesome and has the type of handle treatment I love. Great seeing you at the show BTW.

Two exceptional pieces to be sure, but man, that folder is completely off the hook.

Both beautiful. Like the blade shape on the folder as it's a little unusual as is seeing the "MS" on the fighter.

Thanks for sharing and I hope you don't mind my adding larger photos.

Both are fantastic. The work that has been done on that folder is amazing. The bowie so clean, and it has beautiful lines.

Two knives, vast spectrum of Hanson talent. Man, if my wife had the knife collection habit, I would be in trouble!

I really like the long, strong, 'wicked' clip on the Wicked Bowie! Thanks for sharing.

Joe, I wouldn't use long and strong in the same sentence. It just doesn't sound right.

Jon, Joe, before this gets out of hand, I need to thank Rob for posting these :)

Thanks, Rob! Glad ya'll like em....

Kevin, appreciate you posting the larger pics. I'm not down with the image thang yet.

Kyle, these knives have good company in the fighter you sold me!

Roger, the gold knife is the shabangabang. I feel lucky to have it in the family.

Joe, it is great having "she who must be obeyed" collecting with me but it can get funky when we lust after the same knife. If I could get my mitts on one of Harumi Hirayama's folders for her (with a butterfly or a dragonfly on it) I'd be King Dingaling! :D

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

Rob

Rob, or maybe Don Hanson,

How many gold folders were made in this series? Judging from
the one shown here, displaying them together on two facing pages
may be truly awesome!

Could anyone post some pictures of these knives?

All the best,
David Darom

I shouldn't have called it a series because I really have no idea. I just know there are some more out there.
These are pics from the web over the years.

Thanks, Jon, really nice folders.....

David, I seem to recall Don mentioning he made 5 gold folders of varying designs when I called him about this knife. He also said he probably won't make an more. Of course, I could have dreamt all of this. :) Don, help please.

David, Rob's memory is pretty good but mine is not so. I made 5 or 6
of the gold folders, each one started with between 3 to 5 oz of 18k red gold.
They were all photographed by P7 and or Coop, separately.
If you would ever want images, please let me know and I'll round them up.
I also made 5 or 6 folders with solid 18k gold bolsters.
Gold was $275 when I made the first.:)
