I'm getting ready to buy my first multitool. I don't have any experience with this but am thinking about the Leatherman Wave TTI. It seems to command around $170 and I'm wondering if there are any other SAK/multitool I should consider that cost less. I really like the idea of a S30V main blade and TTI handles. I also looked at the SOG powerassist, but not sure if it comes with a pocket clip.

My only requirements are pocket carry clip and lightest weight possible. I don't need pliers, but would love to have a serrated blade, gut hook/seat belt cutter and a glass breaker.

There are pocket clips available, but the 111mm Victorionox knives go best in a belt pouch in my experience.

I own a Wave, and it is impressive tool, but I find I rarely need a plier based tool. Thats a lot of tool to carry around if you don't need. The 111mm Victorinox tools are quite useful, I carry one often when I head out of the city limits. I prefer the one hand Trekker, but if you want the rescue tools this is one for you.

I can't think of much that ticks all your boxes for a lower price tag, pocket clips are only common in smaller tools generally. If its in your budget, then by all means, go ahead and give it a try and see if you like it. not all multis fit all people, so its hard for me to say if you'd like it or not. If you want to try something cheaper, then go for a second gen wave (the one with removable bits) used, and get the pocket-clip kit for it. Then you'll get an idea of size in your pocket, and see if that style of tool works for you. You only loose the gut-hook, but it can be a 50$ experiment, and if you really want to, then you can jump to the bigger badder tool.

The OH Trekker is by far my favorite SAK, this despite I love them all. It does carry well in a belt sheath, but I prefer to dangle mine by a paracord lanyard into my LF pocket where it nestles perfectly behind my wallet. I can forget it's there until needed.
