A while back the the supervisor noticed me sharpening my pocket knife in a spare moment, and he asked me to sharpen his as well:cool: He pulled out a well-worn Case Muskrat, and I was immediately struck by what a smooth, easy-to-carry knife it was. It seemed like a lot of knife in a really portable, comfortable package, and I decided I wanted one:D Of course, I forgot about it, as does happen, until I found the 'Muskrat Love' thread and my desire was rekindled.

A couple of days ago, an accident at work saw me in the nearest large town getting some screws an a plate in my ankle/leg, and I had a little cash to spare. I asked my girlfriend to run into the knife store in the mall (where they have a pretty decent slipjoint inventory:thumbup:) and asked her to grab me a Muskrat pattern, Case or Boker (their two most stocked brands). Alas, she came back with a Boker Magnum-and though it was very, very nicely put together, I didn't really want a "Made in China" piece. Being the sweetheart that she is, she ran it back in for a refund, and we made our way to the Sportsman's Warehouse.

Having just woken up from surgery a couple of hours prior, I was surprised that I was able to pick out the pattern as quick as I did, but I instantly knew that they had what I wanted. They had various patterns in Harvest Orange, and tucked up near the top was my Muskrat:D It was the only one they had, which made my decision much easier:p Incredibly easy on the hands, the eyes, and hopefully the pocket, this is the first slip-joint that really called out to me, so I was really happy to snag it! And it definitely won't be the last of this pattern I pick up, either;)

Sorry about the pics, I just snapped them with what was handy (which in household lights and the afghan I'm laying on), as getting to the lightbox with a handful of stuff is kind of rough:foot:

Sorry to hear about your accident. Gotta commend you for keepin focus on the important things (knives) right after your surgery.

Congrats on your new Muskrat.

Now you are in deep doo doo:p instead of counting sheep you will be counting, you guessed it RATS!!!!!:D The pattern is my favorite and calls my name when I open the EDC drawer every morning along with 1 other various knife ;)!

BTW hunt your self up a Schrade (USA) 77OT
venerable OLD TIMER in 1095 carbon and give it a whirl!!!:D;)

Get well! That Harvest Bone is a very nice scale in my view, good choice.

Very nice, I bought one of those Harvest Orange Trappers a couple of weeks ago, love it. It's just a really cool handle.

Here are two Schrade rats. The single spring has double liners to make room for the blades.

Those are nice:thumbup: I'm definitely going to look into some of the classics, and the single-spring looks like it would be a dream to carry!

Walter, great choice! I'm real fond of the Case muskrat pattern too:thumbup:
Hope you heal up real quick style:D

Thanks for the well-wishes, gentlemen! I had a 600 lb. roll of plastic come off of its support and the spindle it rolled on hit me in the ankle. Very little pain and surgery went better than they'd expected:thumbup: Luckily, I should be back to light duty this week, which will keep me off of the evilbay lookin' for more 'rats:D
