Very cool to find that one Armand.

What do you think of the locking system? I find it pretty awkward to use actually. You have to press the button in, start the blade towards the closed position to just clear the liner lock then release the button or the blade hangs up in the release. It's just not a very smooth operation. Both sizes work the same way, but the later, smaller wood handled version went back to a plain liner lock and works much better.

Cool knife ITE. Plumb do you think that the way the knife operates may be psrt of the reason that Buck dropped it? HL

I'd put a small bet on it. I'd think that it was at least a part of the reason. A user may get used to the drill of closing the knife over time, but it sure takes some getting used to. I'll try to take some close up photos to show how it works. The larger 885 is a bit easier to use than the 886. The button controlled liner that presses against the lockside liner to push it out of the way doesn't extend as far towards the blade and allows more margin for releasing the button before the blade hangs up on it.

Thanks for the info Plumb. It almost sounds like it was not selling very well, because of the way it worked, so it got dropped. Still I think that it is a cool looking knife. Would have bought one if I had seen any in the stores back then. HL

Dave, I don't care for it too much myself... But I could get use to it... But I think it's going in the sale pile... I'm not really in to these kind of knives.... But than again I could get to like them... They are really lite and I like that... .... ITE

Armand, the larger one like yours is alot easier to use than the smaller version because of the difference in the design. If I needed to, I think I could get used to the large one, but not the smaller.
