I'm going to start it out right. Ordered my first Becker today (bk11) and it's my first knife purchase of 2012 (pats self on back smugly).

Now you've done it.... Welcome! I don't own an 11 myself, but instead got a 14. Seems a bottle opener could only be an improvement. Pix when it arrives!

Time to start preparing for the 2, 5, 7, and 9. It's inevitable.

Welcome to the Becker lifestyle.

Yeah you really should have saved yourself some money on shipping and got them all. You will eventually. :)

So your first knife of 2012 is a becker, is your news years resolution to buy more beckers? After you get your hands on that 11 I bet it will be ;-)

Hell ya! I just ordered my first Becker yesterday, a bk9..... And I know for a fact it wont be my last!

Think I'd like some nice wood handles on it. Something from Texas, maybe bodark (I've been told its pretty tough stuff).

Steve

FYI thats what I started with. I then got a 14... a 7.... a 2.... a 9.... and even a 13. And thats only since sept. I am soon getting a 5... tweeners... oh and dont forget all of the micarta, stainless hardware, upgraded sheaths. Yeah...

Just got my first BK11 a few days ago and it's already an old friend. As with most of my old friends there were knives, dead bodies and lots of beer involved. Then you'll want to do all kinds of stuff to it cuz everyone else is. Everyone seems a little crazy 'round here and that's the way I like it. So pull up a chair, wait for your knife to come and think of how much greater life will be owning a Becker.

I have a feeling its gonna be a Becker year for me too... My first knife of the year is a BK10:) soon as it gets here ill post up pics...

Is there a "how to" sticky for diy becker knife handles? What type of wood are folks using? How did you fit the wood on the bk11 since it doesn't come with handles? Is there a website in particular where folks buy the handles blanks, screws, etc? Just curious. Any input would be nice. Pics please!

Steve

Fantastic buys guys. Not sure what BKT will be my first for the year. I'm thinking a TWEENER maybe. :D 2 weeks until SHOT show, and I plan on stealing me one while I'm there. :D

Where do you get the wood? Home Depot?

Oh, it really depends on what kind of wood you are wanting, something really good looking and solid, or cheap and easily replaced.

If you want some nice looking wood, head over to the exchange and see what's flying around in there, or here actually, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/765-For-Sale-Knifemaking-Supplies-amp-Tools

If you make your own handles is there anything besides plain bolt / nut to attach?

Decorative knife bolts?

Came in the mail yesterday....
