I got this knife from the Pay It Forward thread from SDS. This site is awesome and we've got some people on here that constantly suprise me with their generosity and kindness. It was an early knife that was made in a skinner pattern. This is the first FB knife I've owned with a wooden handle and I was expecting it to get very slippery when wet, but it was just the opposite.
I took it out to make some Pico de Gallo. I know the knife isn't designed for the cutting board, but it's been a while since I got this knife and haven't posted any pics so I figured I'd put to use in the kitchen. It sliced through tomatoes perfectly and the skinner pattern works perfectly in the kitchen and aids in the natural rocking motion you use when cutting in the kitchen.
I forgot to take pictures of the sheath - it's a pouch sheath. I'll get pics of it in the next round.
The cutting board took a bit of the edge away so I'll be heading to the Sharpmaker to get the edge back.
Here's all the ingredients except the salt
Spine with the grooves in the spine near the tip of the blade for enhanced blade control. I plan on cutting up some pork loin later and that will come in handy.
Tomatoes sliced perfectly
Tomatillos are easy to cut since they are a little harder than tomatoes.
mmmmm Jalapenos
Next up - Onions. I was surprised at how well it cut vertical cuts in the onion in preparation for a dice. The blade is wide, but it doesn't cut like it is.
Cilantro, no sweat
A little lime zest and lime juice
Now - into the fridge it goes overnight to let the flavors come together.
