This is a 1st Run Prototype Mnandi. It has BG-42 steel with Pau Ferro inlay.
The few that were made were for an in-house setup to make sure the concept would work.

I have now learned there were 6 in all.

**Info below from hope1967
This is the 1st run prototype
4 ziracote inlay
2 Pau Ferro inlay

It doesn't have a logo pin because the pin was hand-made by Chris Reeve himself before the logo pin was even designed.

There is no clip on this one, instead it sports a leather lanyard. The CR logo is stamped onto the blade.
I love this knife, but then I have a soft spot for all Mnandi.

I have some comparison shots of it with my Bocote Mnandi.

Glad to see it got home safe. What a rare and beautiful find! I have to say I like the lanyard hole.

That's a great looking knife! And a very special piece of CRK history. Thanks for sharing. Congrats and enjoy! :D

I'm soooo confused with all these "river of fire mnandi's" and "pre production mnandi's" and who has what? Lol!

Lisa, "your" knife got sent to another forum member!?

Yes sent to someone else, but home safe and sound.
And I don't have a River of Fire Mnandi :(

Don't really know what to say,speechless.....just a thought, what would that compare to? Very rare find.

That's an incredible find :) I didn't even know they existed.

Wonder why they got rid of that wonderful little lanyard hole?

I wonder if it interfered with the blade closing. If you look closely, the blade does close a little tighter in the production knives.

What a great addition to your Mnandi collection Lisa and a wonderful piece of CRK history.

Excellent find Lisa and it looks Mint, Congrats. That's a keeper for sure.
Thank you

I don't know where you guys (and gals) keep finding stuff like this. Very cool, Lisa.
We look high and low for this stuff.

Not sure, possibly to make room for the clip that ultimate made its way onto the production models.

I wonder if it interfered with the blade closing. If you look closely, the blade does close a little tighter in the production knives.
Made me look closely, but the blade is just a slightly different cut and doesn't touch the lanyard.

Congratulations
Thank you.
